Tasty Tuesday: Move Over Colicchio…

“One of the delights of life is eating with friends, second to that is talking about eating. And, for an unsurpassed double whammy, there is talking about eating while you are eating with friends.”
Laurie Colwin, Author of Home Cooking

I have a feeling Laurie and I would have gotten along swimmingly! Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to eat…a lot. McDonald’s burgers, stadium nachos, sushi, steaks…I don’t discriminate.

On Saturday, Cory and I were lucky enough to have a reservation at a cozy “underground” dinner. Let me tell you, bald chefs are IN. Tom Colicchio, meet Jay M., executive chef at Chez Ellison.

Cory loved the food so much, he smashed a wine glass at the table…for FUN! OPA!

The Amuse-Bouches:
Cheese, olives, fennel, cauliflower pancakes and beans with arugula

The Main Course:
Short ribs with polenta and sautéed greens

The Dessert:
Tres Leches Cake by Lucila’s Homemade

Saturday was just the start of a finger-lickin’ run of yummy foods. Here are the highlights:

  • Sunday: Taco nachos at a high school cheer competition, followed by McDonald’s and a Drumstick later in the evening.
  • Monday: Dinner at Sable Kitchen & Bar and Christmas cookies (including my fave “Orlando” Florida Cookies) by Gloria.
  • Tonight: Dinner at Simply It – my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Chicago.

Let’s talk more about food, shall we? What were your favorite meals this week?
