Project 366: Day 65, 03-05 DIY Invites

Just finished up another DIY wedding project and so excited about them. Sheila and I are hosting a bridal shower for Cory’s cousin Brittney this summer. Her colors are pink, lime and orange, so I tried to incorporate within the invites.

I saw this amazing DIY chevron invitation suite on Wedding Chicks and thought it would be a great way to tie in Brittney’s colors in a trendy way. The suite is amazing because you can choose from great colors and customize your copy.

For Brittney’s invites, I edited the chevron stripes and then designed the invitation part with some free fonts online. I included a special surprise card for guests and used glassine envelopes and confetti that I had leftover from another DIY wedding project (thanks, Danice). To finish, I created some simple wrap address labels with the chevron design to tie things together.

What do you think?

Project 366: Day 57, 02-26 Wedding Album

So, I spent some quality time working on our wedding album on Blurb. We flipped through it on our 1 year anniversary and couldn’t get past the first page without tears…not because we were feeling nostalgic, but because the perfectionist in me couldn’t fathom the fact that I forgot a title page in the book!

Cory didn’t even notice, but since I made this album in the same style as our engagement and Vietnamese ceremony albums, I wanted them to be all consistent…and both of those had title pages with the date, location, etc. The wedding album had nothing…not even a date to remind Cory each year.

I was so upset about my mistake, it was still in the box until this morning (4 months). This morning, I got over it (until I can afford to redo it and reorder, anyway). So, now, instead of sitting in a box, it’s sitting proudly on our mantle with the others.

Project 366: Day 52, 02-21 Kelsey’s BM Gift

I opened up the cutest gift today from Kelsey. Pix below, but such a cute way to kick things off with her bridal party! She has always been so creative, so not surprised at all to see all the cute touches.

Adorable rustic chic jewelry box wrapped in a mesh leopard bow and a kraft card attached:

Personalized inside with photo of the two of us from my bachelorette party, info cards and a Ring Pop!

Close-up of the info cards that shared wedding details, wedding party intros, attire, wedding inspiration board and contact info:

Kelsey just sent me this pic. Apparently booze wasn’t allowed in the shipment, but she was going to include some prohibited Pama and recipe for a Pama champagne toast! Love.

Isn’t this such a cute idea for bridesmaids? It reminds me of the cards I sent my lovely ladies (inspired by this post by Elise of enJOY it on Elizabeth Anne Designs), but WAY cuter!

Did you do anything special to ask your friends to be in your bridal party or have you received anything unique yourself? Leave a comment to share!

Project 366: Day 31, 01-31 Estera Pot Pie Takes

Project 366: Day 16, 01-16 DIY M

We spray painted a gaudy deeeeeeeep gold M into a softer “Champagne Nouveau” gold for our entryway.

Krylon worked wonders! I want to spray paint everything now! What was the last thing you spray painted? Would love some ideas!

I wish I would have taken a “before” picture…

Wedding Wednesday: Ashley & JP, You’re Welcome

With the new season of the Bachelor in full swing, it got me thinking of Bachelorette Ashley’s fall wedding to handsome, Joseph Gordon-Levitt look-alike JP.

In case they’re needing a few ideas, they’ve come to the right place. Here’s how I see their wedding unfolding:

The Attire
From the looks of her promo photo, she’ll probably where a zebra print gown and change into PJs for the afterparty, to honor her and JP’s first one-on-one date.

The Wedding Party
Ashley’s sister was extremely supportive when she met JP, so she’s obviously going to be maid of honor. For the best man, maybe Bentley will fill that role?

The Flowers
Red Roses (Obvs)

The Food
A Canook, Ashley may want some poutine, like she had on her hometown date with Brad.

The Entertainment
I’m predicting the first dance to be “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal, followed by some “YMCA” and “Macho Man” from The Village People (since JP is a construction manager).

The Favors
Since she was on the dentistry path, branded dental kits seem like a perfect party favor — seems like a fitting momento.

Can’t wait to tune in on ABC to see if my dream Ashley & JP wedding comes to life.

What would you predict for those two? Will they even make it down the aisle?

Wedding Wednesday: We’re Baaaaaaaaack!

Call it a resolution, a goal or pipe dream, but I’m hoping to blog more often in 2012. We’ll dissect why/how in tomorrow’s Thankful Thursday post, but I absolutely had to share a sneak peek from my dear friend Danice’s wedding tonight…

CONGRATS TO DANICE & RYAN!
Danice celebrated her birthday, engagaversary and wedding day to her long-time love Ryan on New Year’s Eve. I can remember in college her saying that she wanted to get married on NYE so she could always celebrate her big days in one big shebang.

She did just that on Saturday. Blessed with an unseasonably warm, 65 degree day in KC, she was a gorgeous bride and threw the most fun NYE party you can image. Hopefully she’ll let me steal some of the pix when they’re finished, but every last detail was perfect and the energy was so special.

How about your NYE? Any other NYE wedding goers out there?

I know a few folks who attended NYE weddings this year. I love ’em! Takes the pressure of “plans” (who needs “plans”?!)! I mean, we had fun and here are the party pix to prove it:

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Seaz is Offish Here!

It’s that time of year. Love ’em or hate ’em (think we all know my stance), but weddings are in full bloom! Huge cheers to two terrific couples…both were high school sweethearts!

Jenny & Dan: Jenny is the sweetest colleague/friend you can ask for. Photos by Jennifer Wiley (you may recognize her work, in this engagement session post).

Check out JWiley Photography for more pictures!

Taryn & Brett: Our fave go-to neighbors, who happen to be KU alum. I’ve been stalking their FB pages, but haven’t seen a wedding pic of them together yet. Guess that’s more material for an upcoming #WW! In the meantime, here’s one of their e-pix, shot by Taryn’s dad, who is (was?) a talented pro photographer.

Ah, love this time of year!

Wedding Wednesday: CS Brides Fall/Winter 2011

Last issue of CS Brides was one of my favorite flip-throughs of the winter season. But, the new Fall/Winter issue just topped the cake for several reasons.

  • Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to get to know some of the editors and team members at CS Brides. They are so nice and extremely helpful.
  • Pure Kitchen Catering and Kitchen Chicago both got huge shout outs in this issue!
  • Your truly and a couple of our friends are featured in the “Hitched” section.

I haven’t seen a hard copy, but I’m SO excited to come across one. If you get to one before I do, tear out page 304. It’s a framer.

Pure Kitchen Catering
As many of you know, I’m good friends with Chef Derrick of Pure Kitchen Catering and have had the great opportunity to work with the team, coordinating weddings and managing PR efforts.

In January, we had an industry tasting with some of our wedding/event friends and CS Brides joined us. I had a chance to sit with both the publisher and editor, who are both incredibly sweet. We were so thankful to have them sample PKC’s food and event more appreciative of the amazing story they’ve featured in this new issue:

Kitchen Chicago
The team members at Kitchen Chicago have been so supportive of PKC and are truly advocates for the team. Kitchen Chicago is a shared space where vendors like Flirty Girl Cupcakes and tamale/taco trucks galore cook/bake. It’s also a unique event space that is open, airy and full of endless possibilities.

Art of Imagination created the beautiful decor and set-up a PKC tasting in January for one of Oprah’s brides. Hadassah Bullis of H|Photography shot the image included below and you can see more on PKC’s Facebook page.

Hitched
Recognize some familiar faces? Congrats to Sara & Ari and Caroline & Al on their 2010 weddings!

What was your favorite wedding featured in the new issue of CS Brides? They are all so beautiful, but curious what your thoughts are! Also, any tips you enjoyed reading?

Wedding Wednesday: I Deal Eeee!

Thanks to my online shopaholic friend, Ingrid Gerdes, today’s Wedding Wednesday ties to Ideeli’s Ready, Set, Wed sales event! And, when they have wedding boutiques, I love looking and seeing what prices are – of course, because when you tack the word “bridal” to anything, the cost exponentially increases by a jillion percent and you need a little more than a piggy bank.

I admit, I check discount shopping sites like Ideeli and Rue La La daily, too. Shopping on these sites gives you the thrill of scouring garage sales or flea markets. There’s so much out there, but what do you really need?

Well, after browsing through today’s Ideeli sale, I realized that with the right timing and theme, you can probably actually outfit yourself and a bridal party with some of the incredible deals available – if you’re flexible when it comes to a certain look/feel of your wedding.

Today, I’m going to a beachy destination wedding. Who’s with me?

Nicole Miller Ivory Silk One Shoulder Grecian Dress
Ideeli = $299; Retail = $880

Badgley Mischka Dani Shoes
Ideeli = $99; Retail = $215

Cara Couture White Flower Hairpin with Feathers
Ideeli = $44; Retail = $110

Hair Piece OR…
Cara Couture Pearl & Crystal Statement Drop Earrings
Ideeli =$39; Retail = $90

Ravon Grey Long Convertible Dress
Ideeli = $69; Retail = $198 (There’s also a giveaway on the site for Ravon dresses!)

So, what do you think? Have you or would you ever buy your wedding gear from a one-day online sale?

Oh, and if you need an invitation to any of these types of sites, let me know!
